Lovo AI (Genny) shut down in 2026: what happened, what to use instead

Lovo AI is gone. Lovo, Inc. filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on 27 May 2026, and on 7 October 2026 both lovo.ai and the Genny app returned an error page (HTTP 402). For business voiceovers, switch to Murf AI; for voice cloning and dubbing, to ElevenLabs.

What happened: timeline
Lovo, Inc., the company behind the Lovo AI voice generator and its Genny editor, filed its petition in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York (case no. 26-11249). Chapter 7 is liquidation, not a restructuring: a trustee sells what the company owns and pays creditors.

We found no shutdown announcement from Lovo. Its archived homepage of 31 May 2026, four days after the filing, still offered a “14-day trial of pro”.
What it means if you used Lovo
- Files and voice clones. The app is offline: you can’t sign in, and projects, audio and custom voices can’t be downloaded. If you kept the recordings behind a clone, you can build a new one elsewhere.
- Subscription. There is no account page to cancel from. Check card statements for Lovo or Genny charges after May 2026 and dispute any you don’t recognize.
- Money owed to you. Customers owed money can be creditors. A notice of possible dividends, like the one filed on 4 June 2026, tells creditors there may be money to share and that they can file a claim. We are not lawyers: confirm deadlines with the court or the trustee.

No single tool copies the whole Lovo bundle, but these two cover most of it. Prices are from each vendor’s pricing page on 7 October 2026.

Murf AI: closest fit for business voiceovers
If you used Lovo for training modules, presentations or product explainers, Murf is built for that work. It lists “200+ Expressive Voices Across 35+ Languages”, offers voice cloning and AI dubbing into 40+ languages, and integrates with Canva and PowerPoint. Murf says its stock voices are “created with permission and partnership from professional voice actors who earn royalties”.
Price, checked 7 October 2026: a free plan with 10 minutes of voice generation, without downloads or commercial rights. Paid plans start at $19 a month billed annually ($228 a year); the Business plan is $66 a month billed annually ($792 a year). Monthly billing is not shown on the pricing page. ElevenLabs: for voice cloning and many languages
If you cloned voices or made audio in several languages, ElevenLabs covers more of that. An instant clone needs “just a few seconds of sample audio”, and cloned voices speak 32+ languages. Studio edits audio and video on one timeline with voiceovers, music and automatic captions: the closest match here to the Genny editor.
Price, checked 7 October 2026: free plan with 10,000 credits a month (about 10 minutes of speech), no commercial license. Starter is $6 a month with a commercial license, instant cloning and Dubbing Studio. Creator is $22 a month and adds professional cloning. Credits are shared across all ElevenLabs tools. Other options without affiliate links
- Speechify Studio: voiceovers, dubbing and cloning, 1,000+ voices. The free plan has no cloning or commercial rights; Studio Starter ($100 a year) has both. It is separate from the Speechify reading app.
- WellSaid: English voiceovers for training video, with caption files. Starter is $19 a month for 20 download minutes, or $10 a month billed yearly. Other languages are Enterprise-only.
Skip Play.ht: in January 2026 its homepage read “We have shut down the service”, and on 7 October 2026 play.ht did not load.

On 7 October 2026 we requested the four Lovo addresses above, read the court docket, compared archived copies of lovo.ai, read the Bloomberg Law and Law360 reports and Lovo’s Trustpilot page, and took prices from vendor pricing pages. There are no screenshots from inside the Lovo app here. We re-check this page every 90 days while the case is open.
FAQ
It is down. On 7 October 2026, lovo.ai and genny.lovo.ai returned HTTP 402 error pages. Lovo, Inc. filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on 27 May 2026. The site went offline between 11 July and 13 August 2026, judging by the Wayback Machine’s last working copy and its first archived error page.
No, the app is offline. If you kept the original recordings, you can clone the voice again with Murf, Speechify Studio or another cloning tool from our voice section.
Lovo’s website and app are offline, and a Trustpilot reviewer reported in June 2026 that its support address bounced. Creditors can file a claim in case no. 26-11249 (US Bankruptcy Court, S.D.N.Y.). For unexpected charges, contact your card issuer. This is not legal advice.
Lovo published no reason that we could find. It filed while defending a 2024 proposed class action by voice actors Paul Lehrman and Linnea Sage, who allege it used their voices without permission. That case is now on hold.

There is nothing to buy or try now: on 7 October 2026 the official pricing page returned an HTTP 402 error. The last archived price list, from 3 April 2026 with yearly billing, showed Basic at $24 per user a month ($288 a year), Pro at $48 ($24 in the first year) and Pro+ at $149 ($75 in the first year). An archived homepage of 31 May 2026 still offered a 14-day Pro trial without a card.
It can no longer be bought: the app returned an HTTP 402 error on 7 October 2026. Cloning came with the plans; the last archived price list (3 April 2026, billed yearly) gave Basic, at $24 per user a month, 5 voice clones and Pro unlimited cloning. To clone a voice now, the credit-based platform in the table above includes instant cloning from its $6 Starter plan (7 October 2026), while Murf offers clones only on Enterprise.
